Tourist office of the city of Suresnes
- Dimensions: 150 m²
- Objective: Renovate a castle into a tourist office and space for citizen dialogue
- Style: Heritage and contemporary
As part of a public tender procedure, the City of Suresnes entrusted us with the rehabilitation of the ground floor of the Château de la Grève, an emblematic heritage building of the municipality, to house the Tourism and Projects Centre. The ambition of the project was to create an institutional, accessible and lively place where heritage and the future of the city come together.
A space between tradition and modernity
The interior design aims to combine historical elegance with the requirements of a contemporary public facility, designed to welcome visitors throughout the day.
The space is organised into four clearly defined sequences, encouraging intuitive use by visitors: reception, documentation, exhibition, and consultation areas.
The intervention reveals and enhances the heritage features of the château: original mouldings, solid oak parquet flooring laid in a herringbone pattern, and historic fireplaces. In dialogue with these historic elements, bespoke contemporary furniture in lacquered MDF structures the space as a strong graphic statement.
The flooring alternates between restored parquet and woven rugs, enhancing both acoustic comfort and the hierarchy of atmospheres.
Natural light is highlighted through a restrained and deep colour palette, accompanying the different areas of the Tourism Centre.
Accessibility at the heart of the project
Compliance with accessibility standards was a central issue in this project. Lowered thresholds, continuous circulation paths, adapted widths and carefully designed signage ensure an inclusive and comfortable user experience, without compromising the heritage identity of the site.
Conceived both as a showcase for the local area and a space for dialogue with residents, the Tourism Centre is designed to host citizen consultations, presentations of urban development projects and public information initiatives throughout the year.
