Haussmannian apartment between classicism and modernity

An elegant and characterful reinterpretation of a Haussmann apartment. Newly settled in Paris, an American couple fell in love with this Haussmann-style apartment with preserved charm, nestled in the 9th arrondissement. Herringbone parquet flooring, marble fireplaces, period moldings and cement tiles: all these elements have been carefully preserved and seamlessly integrated into a bespoke contemporary renovation project.

Giving each space its own atmosphere

From the very early stages of the project, the intention was clear: to give each room its own atmosphere by playing with colors, materials and furniture lines. Far from a uniform style, the apartment unfolds as a succession of distinct worlds, each different yet perfectly coherent.

A spacious living room structured around the fireplace

Spacious and filled with natural light, the living room was designed as a soothing space centered around a strong focal point: the fireplace, integrated into a composition of ribbed wood bookcases by Rimadesio. Seating with organic forms—a Maxalto armchair and a Moroso sofa—elegantly contrast with the rigorous lines of the bespoke joinery. The color palette blends muted tones and velvety textures: linen, sand and ivory, complemented by touches of pale pink, dusty rose and the blue leather of the Poltrona Frau armchairs. The result is a soft, subtle and warm atmosphere.

A chic and graphic kitchen

Open to the dining area, the kitchen asserts a more bold personality. Cement tiles on the floor, earthy green walls, brushed brass and contrasting marbles combine to create an atmosphere that is both chic and graphic.

The marble tabletop of the Poliform table is highlighted by a Giopato & Coombes pendant light, flanked on one side by a NORR11 banquette and on the other by Carl Hansen chairs. The harmony of materials and lines creates a convivial, lively and elegant space.

Bedrooms with distinct identities

The sleeping area is composed of three bedrooms, each conceived as a unique retreat.

The master suite embraces refinement with a palette of beiges, browns and natural leather.

The guest bedroom, wrapped in a range of soft pink tones, offers an elegant and cocooning atmosphere.

Finally, the third bedroom, also designed as a home office, adopts a more masculine spirit with deep blue and rich brown tones—a combination conducive to both focus and relaxation.

Functionality, warmth and sophistication: each space strikes a perfect balance between heritage and modernity. This renovation project of a Haussmann apartment embodies a vision of interior design where historic architecture meets a decidedly contemporary art of living.
