Complete renovation of a Parisian apartment
- Dimensions: 160m²
- Location: Trocadéro (Paris 16th)
- Style: Contemporary Haussmannian
Following several pre-purchase consulting visits, the clients chose this large Haussmannian family apartment. It met all their expectations (a high floor with a balcony, beautiful natural light and a prime location) but required a complete renovation.
The owners' wishes
Although the apartment had great potential, notably a generous surface area, it also presented a few drawbacks: a kitchen located very far from the living area and the need to create an additional bedroom. The architect therefore developed several solutions to present to the clients in order to support them in their decision.
The owners wanted to modernise the apartment, bring the kitchen closer to the living area and create an additional bedroom.
As part of the interior architecture study, the architect proposed a complete revision of the apartment's layout. Two distinct zones were created:
- A living space integrating the kitchen
- A sleeping area with a large master suite
The living area
The former dining room was transformed into a mixed space combining the kitchen and dining area. The architect designed a kitchen with a strong architectural character in partnership with Paul & Benjamin. All the household appliances are concealed around an Extendo table and Pierre Paulin chairs.
The living room was conceived as a large reception area that is both welcoming and comfortable. It features two large sofas (Poliform) as well as a custom-made bookcase.
The Haussmannian character of the apartment was enhanced by the addition of traditional mouldings.
A master suite designed like a hotel suite
The entire sleeping area was redesigned by the interior architect. The former bathroom became a colourful children's bedroom. The former eat-in kitchen was transformed into a true master suite with a dressing room and bathroom.
The master suite was designed like a hotel suite. The headboard was designed by the architect and custom-made by an upholsterer. Above it, a wallpaper depicting Lake Como invites a sense of escape. The dressing room features elegant full-height walnut doors. The bathroom also incorporates walnut elements from the dressing area and includes an Arabescato quartzite basin.
A former maid's room was converted into a home gym equipped with all the necessary machines.
