Interior renovation and extension of a chalet

Bringing Comfort While Respecting the Original Chalet
The objective of this interior design project was to preserve the original spirit of the chalet while incorporating contemporary comfort elements and adding an extension.
The walls, structure, and roof were entirely preserved, but the interior underwent a complete renovation. To create 5 bedrooms and a dormitory in the attic, the various floor levels were removed and rebuilt as split levels.
To accommodate the extension, it was necessary to increase the plot's floor area ratio, which was made possible by obtaining the BBC Rénovation label (Low Energy Consumption Renovation).
The modernization of the chalet was therefore accompanied by an ambitious energy renovation. The insulation of the chalet's walls and roof slopes was entirely redone. New high-performance double-glazed windows were installed. In addition, a heat pump was installed to replace the old boiler. In the gardens, a rainwater harvester was added to water the garden.
An Extension to Open Views onto the Surroundings
The extension was designed on the north-west side of the chalet, to open up views onto the land at the rear of the house. The exterior facade of the extension was designed in harmony with the original building, to give the impression it had always been there.
Large bay windows with double-height glazing bring the kitchen maximum natural light.
