Rethinking the interior of a duplex appartement

Diviser et relier les espaces
L’objectif de ce projet d’architecture d’intérieur était de décloisonner les volumes du rez-de-chaussée afin de les rendre plus fluides. Il fallait néanmoins maintenir une certaine indépendance fonctionnelle entre les différentes zones du duplex.
Pour répondre à ces attentes, l’architecte d'intérieur a proposé de supprimer les cloisons existantes et a conçu une menuiserie sur mesure, composée d’un dressing, d’un banc et de claustra/lattis en bois. Cette menuiserie permet de relier visuellement ces espaces au reste du séjour.
De façon à créer une véritable entrée, une porte vitrée en acier laqué noir a été installée, marquant une transition élégante entre l’escalier de l'immeuble et l’intérieur du duplex.
À l’étage, l’espace nuit est complètement ouvert lors de l’achat du duplex. L’architecte d’intérieur à créé un espace mezzanine donnant sur la double hauteur du séjour. La mezzanine est élégamment séparée de l’espace chambre par un ensemble bibliothèque vitré.
Une verrière panoramique motorisée éclaire généreusement l’espace TV/repos, ce qui permet de s’isoler tout au long de l’année. L’été lorsque que la verrière est déployée, l’espace intérieur se transforme en véritable terrasse tropézienne, offrant une vue imprenable sur les toits parisiens.
Re-décorer et uniformiser
Les matériaux utilisés à l’étage, bien que de bonne qualité, dénotaient avec ceux du rez-de-chaussée, qui étaient plus nobles et raffinés.
La salle d’eau et l’espace bain ont été complètement décorés avec le choix audacieux d’un terrazzo riche et intense.
Le parquet en chêne massif, similaire à celui du rez-de-chaussée, a été retrouvé sous la moquette. Il a été soigneusement restauré pour une uniformité parfaite entre les deux niveaux.
L’uniformisation s’est poursuivie avec la création d’une tête de lit en lattis bois et le prolongement à l’identique de la bibliothèque existante double hauteur du salon dans l’espace mezzanine.
Transparence et vues sur les toits de Paris
L’appartement se redécouvre tout en préservant les éléments forts qui ont séduit nos clients lors de l’achat. Il devient traversant, au RDC grâce à la perméabilité des espaces, le regard se prolonge en tout lieu sur l’extérieur.
A l’étage, la création de la verrière panoramique, symétrie parfaite de celle déjà présente au droit du salon, et le remplacement des fenêtres de toit aux petites dimensions par des fenêtres de toit plus grandes favorisent des vues traversantes sur les toits parisiens.
Dividing and connecting spaces
The goal of this interior design project was to open up the ground floor volumes to make them more fluid. It was nevertheless important to maintain some functional independence between the different areas of the duplex.
To meet these requirements, the interior designer proposed removing the existing partitions and designed a custom carpentry unit, consisting of a dressing area, a bench, and wooden lattice/claustra. This carpentry visually connects these spaces to the rest of the living area.
To create a proper entrance, a black lacquered steel glass door was installed, marking an elegant transition between the building staircase and the interior of the duplex.
On the upper floor, the sleeping area was completely open when the duplex was purchased. The interior designer created a mezzanine overlooking the double-height living room. The mezzanine is elegantly separated from the bedroom space by a glazed library unit.
A motorized panoramic glass partition generously illuminates the TV/relaxation area, allowing for privacy throughout the year. In summer, when the partition is opened, the interior space transforms into a true rooftop terrace, offering a stunning view over the Parisian rooftops.
Re-decorating and unifying
The materials used on the upper floor, although of good quality, contrasted with those on the ground floor, which were more noble and refined.
The bathroom and bath area were fully decorated with the bold choice of an intense terrazzo.
The solid oak flooring, similar to that on the ground floor, was found under the carpet. It was carefully restored for perfect uniformity between the two levels.
Uniformity was further enhanced with the creation of a wooden lattice headboard and the continuation of the existing double-height living room library into the mezzanine area.
Transparency and views over the rooftops of Paris
The apartment is rediscovered while preserving the key elements that initially captivated our clients. It becomes through-flowing, on the ground floor thanks to the permeability of the spaces, with sightlines extending outdoors from every point.
On the upper floor, the creation of the panoramic glass partition, perfectly symmetrical to the one already present above the living room, and the replacement of the small roof windows with larger ones allow through-views over the Parisian rooftops.
