Extending the living spaces of an apartment in Asnières

La chambre parentale a été déplacée dans une ancienne chambre d’enfant et transformée en salle à manger. La cloison qui séparait l’ancienne chambre parentale et le séjour a été ouverte afin de faire communiquer la nouvelle salle à manger et le salon et créer ainsi le double espace de vie souhaité par les propriétaires.
La cheminée en marbre et le trumeau présents dans la nouvelle chambre parentale étaient un frein dans l'aménagement de cet espace. Dans la mesure où il aurait été dommage de les supprimer, la cheminée et le miroir ont été soigneusement démontés et déplacés dans la nouvelle salle à manger.
Les deux meubles de part et d'autre de la cheminée ont été dessinés et réalisés sur mesure. Ils offrent de nombreux rangements ainsi qu’un espace bibliothèque.
À l'emplacement de la porte donnant accès à l'ancienne chambre, l’architecte d’intérieur a conçu une verrière avec un cadre en chêne qui a également été réalisée sur mesure. Outre son caractère décoratif, cette verrière permet de faire entrer la lumière naturelle jusque dans l'entrée de l'appartement.
Mise en teinte et luminaires
Pour la couleur, notre choix s'est porté sur le vert anglais chaleureux Green Smoke de Farrow & Ball. On retrouve cette teinte au niveau des rideaux (Madura) et du canapé en velours (modèle Lazare chez AM.PM). Le vert Green Smoke se retrouve également dans la niche bibliothèque dessinée dans la chambre parentale.
Un soin particulier a été apporté dans le choix des luminaires. On trouve des appliques Jieldé Signal de couleur vert kaki dans la salle de douche, des suspensions Petite Friture dans le salon (modèle Vertigo) et dans la salle à manger (modèles Northern et Tradition).
Since 2018 the owners had been living with their two children in this 98 m² apartment located close to Asnières town hall. The apartment consisted of three bedrooms, a living room, a large kitchen, a shower room, a wide hallway, a toilet and a storage room. After their eldest son moved out, the owners’ needs changed: they no longer needed a third bedroom, but wanted to enlarge the living areas. More specifically, they wanted to create a proper dining room and open it onto the lounge to form a double living space.
Solutions proposed by the interior architect
The master bedroom was moved into a former child’s bedroom and transformed into the dining room. The partition that separated the former master bedroom and the living room was opened to connect the new dining room to the lounge and thus create the double living space the owners wanted.
The marble fireplace and the overmantel mirror that were in the new master bedroom presented a constraint when fitting out this space. Since it would have been a shame to remove them, the fireplace and the mirror were carefully dismantled and relocated to the new dining room.
The two cabinets on either side of the fireplace were custom-designed and built. They provide ample storage as well as a library area.
Where the door to the former bedroom used to be, the interior architect designed a glazed partition with an oak frame that was also custom-made. Beyond its decorative role, this partition allows natural light to reach the apartment’s entrance.
Colour selection and lighting
For the paint, we chose Farrow & Ball’s warm English green Green Smoke. This shade appears on the curtains (Madura) and on the velvet sofa (model Lazare from AM.PM). The Green Smoke tone is also used in the built-in bookshelf niche designed in the master bedroom.
Particular care was taken in selecting the lighting. You can find khaki-green Jieldé Signal wall lights in the shower room, Petite Friture pendants in the lounge (Vertigo model) and in the dining room (Northern and Tradition models).
